Sarah Boussuge, RN, Labor & Delivery

“During my entire pregnancy, I was adamant about a natural birth without an epidural. After being induced and going through contractions for more than five hours, I could barely stand the pain. Sarah’s caring approach to discussing my pain management options and her understanding of my fears helped me feel better. She spoke to me as a person, not just another patient. Sarah was reassuring and calming when I decided to go ahead with the epidural. She helped make the birthing experience bearable, and I was saying, ‘Yeah, I could do this again’ five minutes after giving birth. Sarah is the kind of nurse I would want in every delivery or postpartum room. I was fortunate to have her as my postpartum nurse, too.”

Rebekah Dana, RN, Labor & Delivery

“During a stressful trip to the Labor & Delivery unit at only 25 weeks gestation, Rebekah relieved our worries that we had for our baby. Rebekah sat down with us, at eye level, and had conversations about what our concerns were, potential plans of action and what to expect. She made sure we understood each step of the process by explaining everything in great detail. Rebekah was compassionate and established a special connection with us, asking if we had picked out a name and talking to us about parenthood personally. She made our visit feel less like a sterile environment and more like being checked up on by a friend. She took what was one of our scariest moments of pregnancy and relieved our worries and fears. We felt heard, seen and taken care of, and left with renewed spirits.”

Katy Kuhn, RN, Emergency Department

“When my mom was discharged from the emergency department, Katy was the nurse who took over her care. I explained my concerns about my mom being very weak and unable to walk. Katy was patient, kind and jumped into action to find answers for us. Katy ordered more tests, and my mom was later admitted to the hospital for treatment. Because of Katy’s quick thinking and her compassion for her patients, her actions saved my mom’s life. Thank you, Katy, for all that you do and I’m forever grateful my mom was in your care that day.”
