Patient and Family Advisors
As a Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Patient and Family Advisor (PFA), you’ll make a difference in the lives of our patients and your fellow community members!
Our PFAs ensure the voices of CRMC patients and family members are heard by joining the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), volunteering from home, or participating in Performance Improvement (PI) groups.
We’ve shared information on all three ways to become a PFA below, and we hope you’ll consider sharing your time with us!

Who can be a Patient and Family Advisor?
To serve as a PFA, you must have:
- Recent experience as a patient at CRMC or be a patient’s family member
- Willingness to work collaboratively and in an advisory role
- Good listening skills
- Willingness to share your honest opinion
- Ability to interact well with differing groups of people who may have differing opinions
- Respect for others’ perspectives
- A positive, constructive attitude
- Ability to keep personal information confidential
- Desire to make the CRMC patient experience better
Join the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC)
Members of the Patient and Family Advisor Council (PFAC) are volunteer advisers to CRMC. They attend eight committee meetings a year, held at 4 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of every month (excluding the week of Cheyenne Frontier Days).
In addition to past CRMC patients, our Council includes patients’ family members, caregivers and healthcare providers, all committed to improving our overall patient experience by:
- Providing valuable insights that help guide our efforts to provide exceptional patient- and family-centered care
- Offering guidance that aligns with CRMC’s mission, vision and values
- Focusing on how we can offer a safe, quality, compassionate and positive healthcare experience to each patient
- Providing an additional positive form of accountability for our health system
- Working with our leadership team to evaluate hospital practices, programs and services
- Helping us understand how we can improve overall care and experience
- Helping us develop stronger relationships with the communities we serve
Who can be a member of PFAC?
In addition to meeting the PFA member criteria (see above), PFAC members must have:
- An appreciation for the council’s mission
- The ability to participate in regularly scheduled meetings and potential subcommittees
- A willingness to make a two-year commitment

Participate in performance improvement groups
Our Performance Improvement department works alongside CRMC patients and their family members to better improve our processes.
As a past CRMC patient or family member of someone who was, you have a unique and valuable perspective that can significantly enhance our improvement efforts.
If you volunteer to participate in a Performance Improvement group, we’ll contact you beforehand to share specific details.
Best of all, no two groups are the same! Some projects might ask for input that may impact the entire hospital, while others may be specific to a certain department.
Volunteer from home
Choosing to volunteer from home is a wonderful way to make an impact! If you choose this option, you’ll have opportunities to:
- Participate in interviews or surveys to get your perspective as a CRMC patient or family member
- Review potential educational or marketing materials for readability and/or understandability
The time commitment should never be more than 15-20 minutes, and you’ll get to complete every activity from the comfort of your home.
