Clinical and Non-Clinical Student Placement

Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is proud to encourage continued education and foster the development of new professionals entering the healthcare field!

To that end, CRMC maintains partnerships with numerous academic facilities to foster learning, and we host a number of students from academic programs throughout the United States in order to provide observation experiences and clinical experiences.

For both students and academic programs desiring experiences through CRMC: You are required to meet certain requirements before being accepted for placement.

Additionally, students completing this type of rotation must have an established Cooperative Education Agreement between their organization and CRMC.

When applying for student placement, please plan ahead. Requests may take up to 45 days to process.

Clinical student placement

During a clinical placement at Cheyenne Regional, students will:

  • Have the opportunity to participate in direct, hands-on patient care
  • Be under the direct supervision of a designated hospital employee and/or clinical instructor
  • Learn basic clinical procedures and assist in providing care to patients in a clinical setting

Requirements for clinical student placement

To be eligible for clinical student placement, you must complete the following requirements:

  1. Documentation of current immunizations
  2. Background check (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  3. Urine drug screen (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  4. Completion of CRMC’s student placement orientation booklet
  5. CPR certification (required if the student is applying for placement in positions where CRMC employees are required to be CPR-certified)
  6. Completion of a color-blindness test
  7. Complete series of COVID-19 vaccine

Non-clinical student placement

This type of rotation is in a non-clinical setting, in which patient interaction is typically not part of the department’s daily work.

During a non-clinical student placement experience, students will:

  • Participate in the daily activities of the department in which they are placed, under the direct supervision of a designated hospital employee
  • Have the opportunity to apply knowledge from their academic training in a non-clinical hospital setting

Requirements

  1. Documentation of current immunizations
  2. Background check (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  3. Urine drug screen (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  4. Completion of CRMC’s student placement orientation booklet
  5. Complete series of COVID-19 vaccine

Observation student placement

During an observation experience at Cheyenne Regional, both clinical and non-clinical students have the opportunity to observe a healthcare professional in his or her given healthcare discipline, in their daily setting and role. As this is an observation-only experience, the student is not permitted to participate directly in operations or patient care.

In this placement, students will be under the direct supervision of a designated hospital employee.

Requirements

  1. Documentation of current immunizations
  2. Completion of CRMC’s student placement orientation booklet
  3. Submission of defined learning objectives (as applicable)
  4. Letter of recommendation (as applicable)
  5. Complete series of COVID-19 vaccine
