Governor Gordon Proclaimed May 6-12 as Nurses Week in Wyoming

Gov. Mark Gordon officially proclaimed May 6-12 as Nurses Week in Wyoming during a proclamation signing ceremony held at the Wyoming State Capitol.

The event recognized the vital role nurses play in caring for communities across the state and highlighted the impact of the nursing profession in hospitals, schools, clinics and other health care settings. Representatives from Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Laramie County Community College, local school nursing programs and the Wyoming Nurses Association attended the signing in support of Wyoming’s nursing workforce.

“Nurses are often there for people during some of life’s most difficult and meaningful moments,” said Tracy Garcia, chief nursing officer at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. “Their skill, compassion and dedication shape the experience of care for patients and families across Wyoming every day.”

At Cheyenne Regional, nurses serve in a wide range of roles throughout the organization, supporting patients through every stage of care. Their work reflects the organization’s mission to inspire great health and its commitment to serving patients and families with compassion, experience and innovation.

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6 through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing.

Cheyenne Regional joined organizations across the state and nation in recognizing and celebrating the contributions of nurses and the essential role they play in delivering safe, high-quality care.
