Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to Host Second Annual Movement Matters Orthopedics Symposium
Whether it is climbing stairs, taking a walk or playing with grandchildren, hip pain can make everyday activities more difficult than they should be. While many people assume surgery is their only option, a range of treatments can help relieve pain and restore mobility. To help community members better understand those options, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center will host the second annual Movement Matters Orthopedics Symposium on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The symposium will feature specialists in orthopedic surgery, physical therapy and pain management who will discuss the causes of hip pain, available treatment options and when surgery may be appropriate.
“Too many people live with hip pain because they believe it is just part of getting older or that surgery is their only choice,” said Dr. Michael Shannon, an orthopedic surgeon with Cheyenne Regional Medical Group Orthopedics & Surgical Specialists. “Our goal is to help people understand the full range of treatment options so they can make informed decisions, stay active and continue doing the things they enjoy.”
The symposium will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Laramie County Community College Clay Pathfinder Building. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $20 and includes a light breakfast. Presentations will be led by Shannon, physical therapist Thomas Bledsoe and pain management specialist Dr. Natalie Winter. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers.
The event is open to anyone experiencing hip pain, caring for someone with mobility challenges or interested in learning more about maintaining joint health.
Registration is open through Sept. 28. To register or learn more, visit cheyenneregional.org/move or call 307-996-1766.
