Cheyenne Regional First in Wyoming, Colorado and Surrounding Region to Adopt New Cardiac Mapping Technology
Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has become the first hospital in Wyoming, Colorado and the surrounding region to implement the CARTOSOUND SONATA™ Module, placing the organization among the first health systems in the United States to utilize the technology.
Dr. Daniel Wann, a board-certified electrophysiologist at Cheyenne Regional’s Heart and Vascular Institute, performed the organization’s first procedure using the CARTOSOUND SONATA™ Module on June 3. The technology supports advanced cardiac ablation procedures by using artificial intelligence to automatically transform intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) images into detailed anatomical maps of the heart, helping physicians visualize cardiac structures with greater clarity and efficiency.
“This technology represents a significant advancement in how we map and understand the heart during complex ablation procedures,” Dr. Wann said. “The enhanced visualization and automated mapping capabilities allow us to gain deeper insights into a patient’s unique cardiac anatomy, helping us deliver highly personalized care with greater efficiency and confidence.”
Cardiac ablation is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat abnormal heart rhythms, including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. The CARTOSOUND SONATA™ Module uses AI-driven automation to identify and map key cardiac structures, reducing manual steps and providing physicians with detailed anatomical information throughout the procedure.
The technology is designed to support a variety of complex electrophysiology procedures and is compatible with both two-dimensional and four-dimensional intracardiac echocardiography imaging. By streamlining the mapping process, physicians can focus more attention on patient care and procedural decision-making.
“Being among the first organizations in the country to adopt this technology reflects Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s ongoing investment in innovation and our commitment to providing advanced care to the communities we serve,” said Tim Thornell, president and chief executive officer of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. “Patients throughout Wyoming and the surrounding region can access leading-edge cardiovascular treatments without leaving the area.”
Cheyenne Regional’s Heart and Vascular Institute continues to expand access to advanced diagnostic and treatment options, helping patients receive specialized cardiovascular care close to home.
