Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Earns Magnet® Recognition for Nursing Excellence
June 24, 2025 — Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is proud to announce it has once again achieved Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the highest national honor for professional nursing practice. This designation reflects CRMC’s commitment to delivering excellence in patient care, nursing leadership and clinical innovation.
Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence and is a benchmark for quality that is recognized by healthcare organizations and the public alike. Fewer than 10 percent of hospitals in the United States have earned this prestigious status. According to ANCC, just over 600 U.S. healthcare organizations currently hold Magnet recognition out of more than 6,300 hospitals nationwide.
“Achieving Magnet recognition again demonstrates the exceptional commitment our nurses and care teams bring to the bedside each and every day,” said Tracy Garcia, chief nursing officer and vice president of clinical services at CRMC. “This designation is not just a badge of honor but a reflection of the culture of compassion, quality and continuous improvement that defines our work and our mission to serve the people of southeastern Wyoming.”
Research shows that hospitals with Magnet status experience:
- Higher patient satisfaction with nurse communication, responsiveness and discharge education
- Lower risk of 30-day mortality and improved patient outcomes
- Greater job satisfaction among nurses
- Reduced nurse turnover and burnout
The Magnet Recognition Program evaluates organizations across several key components including nursing leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge and innovations and measurable outcomes. Earning this distinction requires a rigorous multi-year process involving a comprehensive application, written documentation, a site visit and a thorough review by the Commission on Magnet Recognition.
Magnet recognition is also considered in U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of America’s Best Hospitals and is a visible indicator of a hospital’s commitment to excellence.
