Biography

Matthew began his healthcare career in 2010 as a bedside registered nurse. He first worked on a traumatic brain injury unit at the National Rehabilitation Hospital and in medical psychiatry at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. During his time at NRH, he contributed to the development of a patient agitation management protocol for brain injury medicine that was later published in a textbook. He went on to serve as charge nurse in the adult acute inpatient psychiatric unit at the University of Alabama Medical Center.

“I didn’t choose it—it chose me,” Matthew says of his path in medicine. “Patients are people first. Every person deserves to feel heard, respected and genuinely cared for.”

Matthew is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care that helps patients feel seen, supported and empowered throughout their treatment journey.

Outside of work, Matthew enjoys life with his wife, their two children and giant tuxedo tomcat. In his free time, he can be found reading science fiction, hiking, fishing, hunting, meditating, playing guitar or riding motorcycles.
