Cheyenne Regional Partners with University of Colorado Medicine to Enhance Radiation Oncology Services

May 27, 2025 – Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is proud to announce a new partnership with University of Colorado Medicine (CU Medicine) to further strengthen the hospital’s high-quality radiation oncology services. This collaborative agreement is designed to complement
the expertise of CRMC’s current team while expanding access to academic-level care for patients
across southeastern Wyoming.

“We are incredibly proud of the talented oncology providers who currently care for our patients,”
said Tim Thornell, president and chief executive officer of Cheyenne Regional. “This partnership
with CU Medicine builds on that strong foundation, allowing us to bring in additional resources and
expertise that will benefit our patients and our community.”

As part of the agreement, CU Medicine will add one full-time radiation oncologist from the
University of Colorado to the Cheyenne Regional team. Additional University of Colorado
physicians will rotate in to support services and ensure continuity of care. This blended approach
combines the strength and stability of CRMC’s longstanding provider team with the nationally
recognized oncology network at the University of Colorado Cancer Center.

The Radiation Oncology Program includes advanced clinical and administrative services for the
diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases through the use of radiation therapy. Services include external beam radiation therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and other state-of-the-art treatment modalities.

Program highlights include:

· Collaboration between CRMC and University of Colorado oncology providers
· Enhanced coordination with medical oncology, surgical oncology and other specialties
· Implementation of evidence-based protocols and patient safety initiatives
· A continued commitment to high-quality, efficient and patient-centered cancer care.

“This well-structured collaboration ensures that patients receive top-tier care right here in Wyoming, while also supporting provider recruitment, technological advancement and long-term
service sustainability,” Thornell said.

“I’m excited about this partnership and what it means for our patients,” said Dr. Natalie Workman,
hematologist and oncologist at CRMC. “It allows us to continue offering comprehensive, high-
quality cancer treatment to our community while enhancing access to additional expertise and
innovation.”
