Kathy Perea, RN-BC

Kathy started her nursing career in 1997 as a certified nursing assistant and then earned an LPN certificate from Weber State University. She completed her associate’s degree in nursing from Laramie County Community College in 2001. Her 26 years of nursing experience include long-term care, medical-surgical, telemetry, public health, care transitions and most recently, behavioral health. She received her board certification in psychiatric nursing in 2017 and has worked as a psychiatric nurse for the past 9 years in the inpatient unit and outpatient clinic. Kathy’s passion for mental health started at the beginning of her career when she realized that mental health crosses over into every aspect of nursing. Feeling inadequate to deal with some of the mental health issues she encountered, she decided to get more educated on mental health. That has led to a passion for those who struggle with mental health issues and a population that is often misunderstood.
