Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a comprehensive program designed to provide education, exercise and support to those with breathing difficulties.
Your doctor will need to refer you to Pulmonary Rehab. Upon admission, you will be educated about your lung disease process, beginning with information about the respiratory system, including how the lungs work and why they don’t function properly due to certain pulmonary illnesses.
Topics that will be covered:
- Breathing retraining
- Energy conservation
- Nutritional recommendations
- Respiratory medications
Each patient will be assessed and will then begin a personalized exercise program, designed according to the patient’s needs, strength and limitations. The classes may be physician-supervised. The Pulmonary Rehab team is always present and will monitor your oxygen levels and make needed recommendations.
We encourage you to attend our “Breathe Right” support group to receive ongoing education and support.
