Time spent with therapy animals can help to boost emotional and physical well-being by reducing stress, promoting healing, lowering blood pressure and lifting moods. In as little as five minutes of time spent with a therapy dog, patients often experience a decrease in fatigue, psychological distress and pain. The Cheyenne Regional Cancer Center has therapy dogs that are registered with Therapy Dogs, Inc. They visit the Cancer Center at various times throughout the week, and patients are encouraged to interact with them if they wish. The pets are washed and brushed prior to each visit and are eager to share their special kind of caring with our patients!
