Cancer Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation for cancer patients helps to achieve the best physical, social, psychological and work-related functioning possible, during and after cancer treatment. From diagnosis into survivorship, cancer rehab is designed to help address the fatigue, weakness, pain and other symptoms that are common during and after cancer treatment.

Our cancer rehabilitation trainers will work with you to keep your body strong so that you can maintain the highest quality of life possible. The staff individualizes the rehab program to meet the unique needs of each patient. Participation in our cancer rehabilitation program has the potential to enhance your energy level, decrease fatigue, improve your activity capacity and improve your sense of well-being.

Yoga

teacher and active senior women yoga class on chairsDuring treatment for cancer, many patients find that the discomfort and fatigue caused by chemotherapy and radiation can be somewhat debilitating. Regular exercise has been shown to increase the body’s defenses and decrease fatigue. Yoga can help to provide cancer patients with a balanced form of whole-body exercise. It strengthens the body while boosting the immune system, and produces an overall sense of well-being. Yoga can also assist patients who have had surgery related to cancer, to restore mobility and flexibility. Patients often find that they’re able to achieve a sense of calmness while practicing yoga, that helps with the stress of a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Cheyenne Regional has a yoga instructor who has been trained specifically to guide cancer patients.
