About

Dr. Andrew Stith, an orthopedic surgeon who recently joined Wyoming Orthopedics & Sports Medicine here in Cheyenne, was recently on the CBS News Channel 5 Morning Show to talk about what led him to become a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon. Watch the discussion on KGWN.

Growing up, Dr. Stith spent a lot of time working on his family’s Wyoming cattle ranch and competing in bareback bronc riding. He also previously worked as a wildland firefighter.

He said he likes work that involves solving problems and using his hands—which influenced his decision to become a surgeon. Dr. Stith also admired and respected how his dad was able to heal animals as a veterinarian. That ability to help and heal was another reason he decided to become a physician.

“I have always had a passion for building and fixing anything I could get my hands on,” Dr. Stith recently shared. “I went into medicine with the desire to provide excellent care to patients, and being an orthopedic surgeon gives me the opportunity to provide that care and see the immediate improvements that surgery can bring into patients’ lives.”

Dr. Stith received his medical school training at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, and his orthopedic training with the Grand Rapids Orthopedics Surgery Residency program in Michigan. He then travelled to Boise, Idaho, for fellowship training in advanced orthopedic foot and ankle surgery and where he also practiced medicine for several years. Dr. Stith made his next move to Cheyenne to be part of our orthopedic group’s medical staff. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Stith back to Wyoming!
