SmartExam FAQs

What is SmartExam?
SmartExam is an online service offering the simplest, most convenient way to get care for common, everyday health issues.

Do I have to be a current patient of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Group?
Yes. If you have seen a Cheyenne Regional Medical Group provider within the last 36 months and would like to activate a MyChart account, click here.

Who is responding to my SmartExam?
All SmartExams are reviewed by licensed Cheyenne Regional Medical Group providers. They will provide you with a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan that they’ve tailored to your unique symptoms and conditions.

Do I need to use a camera or video?
You never need to use video for SmartExam. For some conditions, we may want to see a picture to help us understand what is going on. If needed, you can use pictures from your mobile device or computer.

Will I be treated by my own provider?
Because we want to help you feel better faster, and your provider isn’t always available at the moment that you need care, we can’t guarantee that you’ll be treated by your provider. We know the trust you put in us is important. You’ll always be treated by a licensed Cheyenne Regional Medical Group provider. We also always make sure that your SmartExam is part of your medical record and that your provider sees the care that you’re getting.

How much will my SmartExam cost me?
The cost for a diagnosis and treatment plan is $40. If no diagnosis or treatment plan is given, you will not be charged.

How do I submit payment?
Payment is easy. Just enter your credit card or debit card information. We’ll charge your card and send you a receipt. You only pay if we can treat your condition.

Can I use my health savings account (HSA) card to pay for a SmartExam?
Yes, you can enter your HSA card number when you submit payment during checkout.

What do I do if I don’t have a credit card, debit card or HSA card?
We suggest using a loadable gift credit card.

Are there any age restrictions with SmartExam?
SmartExam is now available to patients four years of age and older. The parent/guardian must have a MyChart account in order to use SmartExam for their dependent. The MyChart account holder must be 18 years of age or older.

Can I bill my insurance?
If you believe this service is covered by your insurance plan, you may submit a claim to your insurance company to pursue reimbursement. Be aware that if this is not a covered service, the cost you pay during checkout will not count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. This service is not covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

Will I be charged if you can’t treat me?
Never. Our goal is to help you get easy access to high-quality, affordable care. If it turns out that we can’t treat you through a SmartExam, then there is no charge to you. If your condition requires an in-person visit, we can help locate and schedule a provider for you.
