Char & Lew Roney
Char and Lew attended Denim ‘N Diamonds years ago, and they’ve been hooked ever since. They support the Area of Greatest Need Fund, so that the Foundation can identify where their gift will have the greatest impact.
It started out like a classic western love story – except she was originally from Berlin, Germany, and he grew up in Laramie, Wyoming. Char found herself working for the Governor of Wyoming, a career that lasted 30 years. Lew was a math teacher who also coached football, basketball and track at Central High School in Cheyenne. In 1974, Lew was assigned as an escort for Cheyenne Frontier Days-assigned to a beautiful young woman by the name of Char.
The two fell in love and have made Cheyenne their permanent home. With two daughters and two grandsons in Cheyenne, their winter home in Nevada doesn’t keep them away for very long at a time.
Their connection with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center comes from the experiences of both extended family and their own. “Cheyenne Regional is so important to this community,” says Char. “We have qualified and compassionate doctors and nurses here and that special sense of neighborhood.”

Lew still works part-time for Laramie County Community College (LCCC) and helps with developing math materials for the Partnership Diploma Program. Char is retired. Together they enjoy traveling, golf and bridge a couple times a week. But their biggest joy is being with their grand kids.
