October 15, 2021 Master Facility Update #4

Below is an overview of construction that is happening at Cheyenne Regional West for this upcoming week.
Highlights:
- Elevator car A-1 will be out of commission starting Oct. 18th for the next several months for refurbishment.
- 24th Street will be closed on Tuesday, October 19th. Access to cancer center and dock will route off of Evans Ave.
- Roofer is mobilizing at East Building starting week of Oct. 25th. This is a date change! Lift/Crane anticipated in west parking lot on Oct 25th.
- Roofer is mobilizing at West Building starting week of Oct. 25th; 24th street will be closed on Oct. 25th, dock and cancer center will remain accessible.
- Continuing demolition noise on the 4th floor due to work on Master Facility Plan
1. What is happening?
One of the A cars will go down on Monday, October 18!
Elevator Refurbishment at West Building
We will be refurbishing Elevators A and B that service the patient tower. We will take one car down at a time. The first car to go down will be A1 (which is the public elevator near the cafeteria – see solid black line)
When is this happening?
Schedule – all completion and subsequent start dates are pending state inspections
A – Patient Tower Elevators for Visitor/Staff
- Car 1: 10/18/2021 – January 2022
- Car 2: January to April 2022
B – Patient Tower Elevators for Patient/Equipment Transport
- Car 1: April to June 2022
- Car 2: July to Aug 2022
Why is this happening?
The elevators need to be refurbished as they have not been since the building was built in 2002. They are almost 20 years old.

2. What is happening?
24th St. will be closed from Warren Avenue to Cancer Center parking lot entrance. Traffic will be detoured to Evans Avenue to access Cancer Center and North parking garage.

Why is this happening?
Air handlers 3 and 4 (which service OR rooms) are being replaced. Material needs to be hoisted to the roof.

3. What is happening?
East Building – Crane and Forklifts to accommodate Roof Replacements (Dates changed!)
When is this happening?
- Crane/Forklift by Hot Springs and Ambulance Bay – 10/25/2021
- Replacement of B02 and C02 = 10/26- 11/24/2021
- Forklift by the dock = 11/29/2021
- Replacement of A08 = 11/30- 12/9/2021
Why is this happening?
In FY2021, we had a roofing expert conduct a roof study to evaluate the roofing systems across the East and West campuses. For this fiscal year, it was determined that we needed to replace three roof systems at the East campus. The roofs to be replaced are in red. The yellow circles indicate locations of a crane and/or forklifts.

West Building – 24th Street Road Closure to accommodate Fork Lift to lift Materials for Roof Replacements
Access to dock, North Parking Garage, and Cancer Center will be available
When is this happening?
10/25/2021 – 7A to Noon
Why is this happening?
In FY2021, we had a roofing expert conduct a roof study to evaluate the roofing systems across the East and West campuses. For this fiscal year, it was determined that we needed to replace 11 roof systems at the West campus.

5. What is happening?
General scraping, pounding, grinding, demolition noise on the 4th floor, 68 building and patient tower
When is this happening?
Week of Oct 18 – 22
Why is this happening?
As part of the Master Facility Plan, we are remodeling the 4th floor 68 building and 4th floor patient tower to accommodate a new Mother Baby Unit. This construction will be ongoing until summer of 2022.
