December 9, 2021 Master Facility Update #09 

Below is an overview of construction that is happening at Cheyenne Regional West for the upcoming week.

Highlights:

  1. We are about to start a new construction project! The cancer center is installing a new linear accelerator. In order to get the old one out, they will be closing the south side of the cancer center parking lot on Saturday and Sunday.
  2. Lift will be set up in the dock area on Monday, December 13th. Access to dock doors will remain available.
  3. Heat in the patient tower (1st floor through 6th floor) will be temporarily shut down on Tuesday, December 14th for no more than 3 hours.
  4. Continuing construction noise from 4th floor renovation.

What is happening?

Cancer Center equipment is being removed and loaded onto a semi-truck, therefore the south end of the Cancer Center parking lot will not be accessible (see map below).

24th Street will not closed.

 

 

When is this happening?

December 11 and 12 (Saturday and Sunday)

Why is this happening?

This will allow us to start reconstruction on the old TomoTherapy vault to prepare it for a new Linear Accelerator.

What is happening?

West Building = 24th Street Crane

 

This is NOT a road closure. The crane will be operating in the dock area as far west as possible. Contractor will coordinate to accommodate dock access.

When is this happening?

Monday, December 13th, anticipated to be between 8am to 2pm

Why is this happening?

 Crane will be in the dock area. Materials will be loaded onto and unloaded off the roof.

What is happening?

The heating system for the patient tower will be temporarily shut down for a few hours in order to repair leaks that have been discovered on our system.

Where is this happening?

The first floor (kitchen and cafeteria), 3-2, and 6-2 will be affected.

When is this happening?

Tuesday, December 14th starting ~10am. The work is expected to take 3 hours. The temperature on this day is expected to be in the 60-degree range.

Why is this happening?

A leak was discovered on our water line that supplies our heating and cooling system. In order to fix the leak, the system has to be drained and then refilled.

What is happening?

General scraping, pounding, grinding, demolition noise and vibration on the 4th floor, 68 building and patient tower.

  • Scraping prominent on the southside of the 1968 building (especially noticeable in 3-1 surge unit).
  • Thuds and impact noises to begin later in the week on the north end of the 1968 building (especially noticeable on the 5th floor (Peds unit)).

Where is this happening?

Demolition will continue to be on the 4th floor in the old TCU space. Framing is being installed in the old 4-2 unit and on the north end of the old TCU space. Several rooms on 3-2 are currently closed to accommodate new plumbing openings.

When is this happening?

Week of December 13th.

Why is this happening?

As part of the Master Facility Plan, we are remodeling the 4th floor 68 building and 4th floor patient tower to accommodate a new Mother Baby Unit. This construction will be ongoing until fall of 2022.
