Cheyenne, WY—Cheyenne Regional Medical Center invites community members interested in learning more about diabetes to attend its free “Diabetes Day” on November 9, 8 a.m. to noon. The event will be held in the hospital’s main auditoriums, next to the cafeteria.
Diabetes Day will include presentations from Dr. Mohammad El-rifai, a Cheyenne Regional Medical Group endocrinologist who will focus on diabetes causes and management; Dr. Herman Feringa, a CRMG cardiologist who will discuss diabetes and heart disease; and Dr. Rick Roper, a local podiatrist who will discuss diabetes-related foot issues and care.
Diabetes resources, diabetes technology representatives and vendor booths focusing on diabetes management will also be available, and there will be giveaways and refreshments. No RSVP is required.
“Type 2 diabetes has become more prevalent in our community over the past several years,” said Ellen LaRiccia, a CRMC diabetes educator and one of this year’s event organizers. “Our goal is to help our community understand the different types of diabetes and what can be done to manage the disease and sometimes, in the case of type 2 diabetes, how to prevent it.”
