Student Placement

Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) encourages continued education and fosters the development of new professionals entering the healthcare field.

Surgeons in scrubsCRMC maintains partnerships with academic facilities to foster learning, and hosts a number of students from academic programs throughout the United States in order to provide observation experiences and clinical experiences.

Students and academic programs desiring experiences through CRMC are required to meet certain requirements before being accepted for placement. Additionally, students completing this type of rotation must have an established Cooperative Education Agreement between their organization and CRMC.

When applying for student placement, please plan ahead. Requests may take up to 30 days to process.

Clinical Student Placement

During a clinical placement, students will have the opportunity to participate in direct, hands-on patient care. They will be under the direct supervision of a designated hospital employee and/or clinical instructor. Students will learn basic clinical procedures and assist in providing care to patients in a clinical setting.

Requirements
  1. Documentation of current immunizations
  2. Background Check (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  3. Urine Drug Screen (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  4. Completion of CRMC’s student placement orientation booklet
  5. CPR Certification (required if the student is applying for placement in positions where CRMC employees are required to be CPR-certified)
  6. Completion of a color-blindness test

Non-Clinical Student Placement

During a non-clinical student placement experience, students will participate in the daily activities of the department in which they are placed, under the direct supervision of a designated hospital employee. Students will have the opportunity to apply knowledge from their academic training in a non-clinical hospital setting. This type of rotation is in a non-clinical setting in which patient interaction is typically not part of the department’s daily work.

Requirements
  1. Documentation of current immunizations
  2. Background Check (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  3. Urine Drug Screen (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  4. Completion of CRMC’s student placement orientation booklet

Observation Student Placement

During an observation experience, the student observes a healthcare professional in his or her daily setting and role. Clinical and non-clinical students both have the opportunity to observe the day-to-day responsibilities for the given healthcare discipline. In this placement, students will be under the direct supervision of a designated hospital employee. This is an observation-only experience that does not permit the student to participate directly in operations or patient care.

Requirements
  1. Documentation of current immunizations
  2. Background Check (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  3. Urine Drug Screen (must be completed prior to and within 30 days of the student’s start date)
  4. Completion of CRMC’s student placement orientation booklet
  5. Submission of defined learning objectives (as applicable)
  6. Letter of recommendation (as applicable)
