Cardiac Electrophysiologist Joins Cheyenne Cardiology Associates

September 10, 2020

Dr. Jason Rytlewski is a clinical cardiac eletrophysiologist who has recently joined Cheyenne Cardiology Associates.

Dr. Jason Rytlewski is one of the newest members of our cardiology team, joining Dr. Oussama Lawand as one of only two clinical cardiac electrophysiologists practicing in Wyoming.

Dr. Rytlewski came to Cheyenne Cardiology Associates from northern Colorado, where he was co-director of the Department of Electrophysiology and director of Cardiac Rehabilitation for Banner Medical Group’s Cardiovascular Institute.

Previously Dr. Rytlewski was an assistant professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine for the Wake Forest School of Medicine and prior to that was in medical practice as a clinical cardiac electrophysiologist with the Missouri Heart Center in Columbia, Missouri.

Dr. Rytlewski received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and has a fellowship in cardiology and electrophysiology from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Dr. Rytlewski said he became a cardiologist after seeing the care that physicians provided to his grandfather and the immediate family during a difficult time: “When my grandfather passed away from congestive heart failure, his physicians provided incredible emotional and social support in a terrible situation.”

Dr. Rytlewski decided to specialize in treating heart arrythmias, or irregular heartbeats, during his cardiology fellowship training, noting that he likes being able to help patients in this situation feel better and often have a more active lifestyle: “My medical practice revolves around the evolving science of arrythmia physiology and how that can be used to help patients with this kind of heart issue.” As for his philosophy of patient care, Dr. Rytlewski is focused on the importance of treating each patient in a kind and considerate way, “as though they are a family member,” he said.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Rytlewski enjoys caring for his many pets, which include two rescue dogs, a rescue cat and two Boston Terriers. He is also passionate about staying physically fit, for his own sense of well-being and to demonstrate the importance of being active. He especially enjoys biking, skiing and running and has competed in several races. His most recent running accomplishment was finishing the Berlin Marathon last year.
