Culture Fest: Promoting Health & Justice

Managing Stress and Anxiety
Mondays, 5 p.m., Cheyenne Regional East building (second floor)
Cheyenne Regional’s Behavioral Health Services (BHS) will start a “Managing Stress and Anxiety” group. People can join the group at any time, and it will run continuously. Participants will learn about the effects, symptoms and causes of anxiety and general stress and will also learn to better manage stress and anxiety. There is a fee. “Tender Care”
Mother and family meet with a nurse. This process simplifies admission when women are in labor. After 36 weeks gestation the mother:

  • Completes hospital pre-registration
  • Comes to Women and Children’s Services
  • Completes admission questions for Labor and Delivery
  • Fills out consents
  • Completes birth plan and feeding preference
  • Takes a private tour of the unit

Commit to Quit
Tobacco cessation program consists of four weekly group meetings. Space is limited. Classes will be held at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Call (307) 633-6078 for schedule, times and location.
Fee: $40 for four-week program. $10 refunded to participant at end of course for each session attended.

Diabetes Self-Management and Diabetes Prevention Programs
Individual and group instruction for people with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. Group education available for people with Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes prevention program now offered for people at risk of getting diabetes. Physician referral required.

Laramie County Prescription Discount Card
Helps consumers cope with the high price of prescription drugs. Cards may be used by all Laramie County residents, regardless of age, income or existing health coverage and are accepted by most of the pharmacies in Laramie County. Call the Laramie County Centralized Pharmacy at (307) 637-7000 for more information.

Prescription Assistance Programs
Helps low-income area residents obtain medications for chronic health problems. Eligibility based on pharmaceutical company guidelines. Screening may require patients to provide proof of income and assets. Referrals from physician offices can be made by calling (307) 637-7000.

Free Screenings: Mammogram / Pap Smear / Colonoscopy / Lung Screening
No insurance? You may be eligible for this free program. Includes pelvic exam, Pap smear, clinic breast exam and/or mammogram, limited diagnostic tests and, in case it becomes necessary, access to breast or cervical cancer treatment. Wyoming Cancer Resource Services is funded by the Wyoming Department of Health, Comprehensive Cancer Control Program. Call (307) 633-6863 for more information. 

“Fitness for Two” and “Fitness for Two with Wheels”
“Fitness for Two” is a prenatal exercise class providing supervised workouts, fitness and educational information, a safe workout environment and interaction with other prenatal women. “Fitness for Two with Wheels” is a stroller class designed to help moms of young babies stay in shape. Online Childbirth Education
You can learn at your own pace, in the comfort of your home. There is an option to ask a nurse via an email link to access an experienced Labor and Delivery nurse to answer questions. You will receive an access code and log-in instructions once you register.
